Meaningful Beginnings
“As native Charlotteans, we witnessed the growth and changes that occurred to the area over the last 30 years. When we began a family of our own we started looking for childcare. We realized there was a need for a different option.
We wanted a program that we’d feel not only comfortable enrolling our children in, but excited for the support they’d have in their educational journey.
Busy Bee Academy grew from the desire to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children feel empowered to learn and grow, staff are excited to be a part of their journey, and families feel heard and supported in their child’s care.
When introduced to the Reggio Emilia philosophy we knew we had found the perfect framework to guide our mission. We’re so glad that you are here and look forward to getting to know your child and family.”

Serving children from birth through 4 years old/Pre-K, we meet children where they are at. We set-up the environment with opportunities and let them lead in what inspires their curiosity and learning.

Curriculum
Busy Bee Academy utilizes The Creative Curriculum (Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool), in conjunction with a Reggio Emilia approach to learning, in order to incorporate the latest research and best practices into our program and modify lessons to the diverse learning styles of each child.
Teachers design weekly lesson plans that are intentionally linked to themes, but flexible enough to meet individual needs, interests, and strengths. Using exploration and discovery as a way of learning, The Creative Curriculum system enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.

The spaces in our facility are thoughtfully designed to foster children's engagement and curiosity, providing a vibrant foundation for their learning and development. The spaces are bright, open, and inviting, creating an atmosphere where children feel welcome and eager to explore.
Each classroom is tailored to specific age groups, ensuring that all materials and activities are age-appropriate and stimulating.
Additionally, our outdoor play areas offer diverse opportunities for physical activity and social interaction, complementing our indoor educational spaces.

We firmly believe that that children need the opportunity to be children which means limited time spent sitting at a table with worksheets

Our curriculum and approach is designed to adapt with our students based on their interests and needs versus a directed curriculum with set lesson plans and daily worksheets focused on specific skills. A different route to learning that produces the same, if not better results.

We believe that a child’s progress progress and development is much more than results from a standardized test. We focus on the whole child when assessing development.

While we do incorporate structured learning time on an individual basis, we believe that play time is when children are best equipped to absorb and learn. The research has shown time and again that children thrive when given the opportunity to play and explore.

Just like adults, children all learn in different ways and at their own pace. We believe in meeting children where they are and scaffolding their learning experiences to help them to achieve new milestones.

You won't see a conventional classroom setup with desks, structured activities, and a clear separation between work and play areas. Instead you'll find a comfortable, inviting space to explore and learn.

You prefer a daycare where parental involvement is limited to dropping off and picking up your child, with minimal engagement in the educational process. We understand that as working parents life gets busy. No parent should ever feel pressured to overextend themselves, but we always invite our families to be a part of our learning experience.
